TD-SCDMA Update

- T3G's own-developed TD-SCDMA baseband chip, dubbed TD60186, has entered volume production. TD60186 supports TD-SCDMA, GSM, GPRS, features 384kbps high-speed data transmission, and boasts low power consumption.

- ADI (Analog Devices) and Datang have started sampling the SoftFone-LCR+ chipset, ADI's second-generation dual-mode chipset in compliance with the TD-SCDMA LCR (Low Chip Rate) air interface. The SoftFone-LCR+ chipset solution supports dual-mode TD-SCDMA/GPRS operation and full 384kbps download speed. ADI's new chipset is expected to start volume production by the end of the first quarter 2007.

- Taiwan-based mobile phone makers BenQ and OKWAP unveiled TD-SCDMA models - BenQ S81 and OKWAP T11 and T21 - at the ITU Telecom World 2006 convention in Hong Kong. OKWAP T21 features dual-mode TD-SCDMA/GSM capability and has been tested in an earlier field trial.

- Spreadtrum Communication is expected to release its latest-generation TD-SCDMA chipset based on the 90-nanometer process. Spreadtrum's new TD-SCDMA chip will support HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) and H.264/MPEG-4 multimedia specifications.
